Privacy & Entity Commitment

This Privacy Policy describes how downtime.watch (Trade / Operating Entity: downtime.watch Technologies, "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and safeguards your personal and organizational information when you visit our website or use our monitoring and workflow services.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following categories:

  • Account Information: Name, work email address, company name, and encrypted account password provided during signup.
  • Monitoring Targets & Configuration: Target URLs, domain names, IP addresses, port numbers, expected HTTP status codes, check intervals, and custom webhook URLs.
  • Billing & Payment Information: Payment transactions are handled directly by PCI-DSS compliant payment gateways. We store transaction IDs, plan identifiers, and billing history; we do not store raw credit/debit card numbers or CVVs on our servers.
  • Log & Technical Data: IP address used to access the dashboard, browser user-agent, operating system, and system usage logs for security auditing.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your data is used strictly for:

  • Executing automated multi-region uptime, SSL, and API latency checks as configured by you.
  • Sending urgent outage alerts, recovery notifications, and incident summaries to your configured channels (Email, Slack, Discord, Webhooks).
  • Processing prepaid plan orders (1-Month, 6-Months, 12-Months), renewal invoices, and tax-compliant receipts.
  • Improving platform performance, preventing malicious probe abuse, and providing technical customer support.

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal or monitoring target information to third-party advertisers or data brokers.

3. Data Sharing & Third-Party Processors

We share data only with vetted third-party service providers essential to operating the platform:

  • Payment Processors: Certified payment gateways for billing and subscription processing.
  • Transactional Email Services: High-deliverability SMTP providers for password resets, email verification, and critical uptime alerts.
  • Cloud & Network Providers: Encrypted cloud server infrastructure hosting our distributed probing nodes.

4. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use essential session cookies and local storage tokens strictly to keep you securely authenticated to your account dashboard and preserve user interface preferences (such as Light/Dark theme). We do not use intrusive cross-site behavioral tracking cookies.

5. Data Security & Storage

We implement stringent technical and organizational security controls to protect your data:

  • Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using modern TLS 1.3 encryption.
  • Encryption at Rest: Sensitive notification secrets, webhook authorization headers, and API keys are encrypted at rest using AES-256.
  • Role-Based Access: Access to internal infrastructure is strictly restricted and monitored.

6. Your Data Rights & Account Deletion

You have the right to access, update, or permanently erase your personal data at any time. You can export your monitor configurations, update your profile details, or trigger complete account deletion directly from your account settings.
